A “Suzuki child” who had the privilege of studying under Dr. Shinichi Suzuki and a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music in New York, Dan Dery has worked with great violinists including Pinchas Zuckerman, Ruggiero Ricci, Sylvia Rosenberg and Shmuel Ashkenasi.

 

Having performed regularly in Europe, the USA, Israel and Taiwan, he counts amongst his chamber music partners artists such as Nobuko Imai, Alain Meunier, Imre Rohmann, Francois Guye and Michel Lethiec.

 

Formerly concertmaster of the Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon and professor at the Lisbon Conservatory, Dan is trained as a Suzuki Level 5 instructor and enjoys sharing his passion for music with a younger generation under the philosophy of Dr. Suzuki and the method he pioneered.

 

Dan currently lives in Geneva, where he has developed a significant class with numerous prized students in the Swiss national competition (1st prize in the youngest category for all of Switzerland in 2016), a first prize in the Vatelot Rampal competition in France, students in the CNSM and Cologne Conservatory, has given “master classes” in both Europe and Asia, and was the founder of the Festival de Jussy and Blonay Virtuosi. He was Director of the Suzuki® Method for Switzerland from 2005 to 2007.

 

His discography includes works of Franz Schubert under the label MAP with the pianist Wilfrid Humbert. For the opening concert of the prestigious concert series in Victoria Hall, Geneva, they released the complete Brahms violin sonatas with Classiques Alternances.

 

Dan is the inspiration behind the MyOngaku App and founder of Ongaku Learning.
